Why Mr. Pohl Believes Every Child Can Thrive

After a decade in traditional classrooms, this teacher found his calling in a school designed around how kids really learn.

Mr. Pohl spent ten years in large public-school classrooms before joining Julie Billiart. “I was a good teacher in a system that wasn’t built for the students who needed me most,” he admits.

Here, with smaller classes and a team of specialists down the hall, he finally has the room to teach the way he always wanted to — meeting each student exactly where they are.

“Every child can thrive,” he says. “The question is never whether they can. It’s whether the adults around them are willing to change how they teach.”
